Career counselling and maternity coaching for mums and mums-to-be

I’m passionate about helping mums and mums-to-be reach their full potential in their careers within the context of their family life.

I have three children myself and have worked in various contexts since the birth of my first child, so I am well aware of the challenges and benefits of various ways of working. For more detail of my background, please click here.

Getting the right balance

Whether you’re looking for a total career overhaul or advice on a specific issue, I can give you structure and guidance to help you clarify your personal priorities and requirements. Examples of areas where I can help you include:

Maternity Coaching

  • Communicating and managing your pregnancy at work
  • Preparation to hand over to your cover
  • Managing your maternity leave
  • Planning for a smooth return to work for you and your business
  • Handling more complex issues such as redundancy while pregnant or on maternity leave
  • Preparing for an extended career break: developing a plan to keep your brain active, keeping up to date with your industry or begin exploring alternative options
  • Re-engaging with the organisation on your return:  clarifying and delivering on objectives, reconnecting with key stakeholders and looking at pragmatic ways to manage your new dynamics…

Career Counselling

  • Negotiating your existing contract or working hours
  • Achieving a work/life balance that is right for you
  • Identifying options for an alternative career – and more importantly working out what you need to get there
  • Brainstorming the feasibility of a new business idea
  • Developing your CV and preparing for interviews
  • Increasing your confidence to return to the workplace, no matter how long you have been away

What’s different about my approach?

I offer pragmatic and non-judgemental support to mums. If you’re not sure whether careers counselling is right for you, please do read what other mums have said about how Making Careers Work helped them to clarify what they want and how to achieve their ambitions.

How do I get started?

I can offer support through one-to-one consultations, group workshops and other events. I mostly work during the working week, but have limited evening and weekend sessions for those who struggle to get time without smalls during the day.

If you have a group of four or more people, I can happily put together a bespoke programme for you. This is the ideal fit if you’re part of an ante-natal group who want to maximise their maternity leave, or a group of school mums looking to return to work after a career break.

Initial discussions (either at the office or over the phone / Skype) are absolutely free, so do get in touch
